Thank you for visiting www.ShaunaStaveley.com! This online portfolio provides easy, consistent access
to all
information regarding my journalism career.
I created
this entire website on my own.
This web portfolio is a tangible representation of my online content production capabilities. As you can see by
the navigation menu to your left, you can access my resume, print article clips, blog entries, relevant links, video and sound
clips, and my contact information. All content posted on this website, including the video and audio, was self-created. I
recorded and edited with various programs, such as Samplitude (sound program) and Microsoft Movie Maker (video program).
I am currently a full-time News Reporter for the Arlington Advocate. The Advocate is a weekly newspaper owned by GateHouse Media New England. I am responsible for the vast majority of News produced for the paper, as well as the website. I cover everything considered
newsworthy to the public. In other words—I am a multi-purpose, multi-beat reporter.
My Arlington job is perfect for the future journalist.
My entire office, located in Lexington, MA, is adapting to the newly converged newsroom experience. I have the responsibility of writing articles, but also taking
digital photos and shooting video. I am encouraged to spread my wings and gain experience necessary to survive as the media
continues to evolve.
Though I am working as a full-time employee,
there is some availability on weekends for freelance assignments. Based on my background in both
sports and news, I would be willing to consider an opportunity in either area. Of course, this would have to be discussed
with my editor, because as any journalist knows, the editor has the final say on such an issue. If you would like to contact
me about a potential freelance position offer, please contact me at sstaveley@gmail.com.
In the meantime,
please look over my website to see what I can potentially offer and what I have already accomplished. As
a recent magna cum laude Journalism graduate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with experience in radio, television, print and online media, I know how to appeal to the next generation of readers…readers who don't just pick up the paper on a daily
basis. I know how to get the public the information they need, in the formats that appeal to them. That is what matters
in the world of journalism today.
Please
be sure to get in touch and let me know what you think of my site!
